The task is to design a 50,000 squarefoot store that is both connected to the urban Washington, D.C. environment as well as nature itself. In order to forge connections with the space and the equipment, all of the applied materials are muted in comparison to the products with natural materials to allow the products to stand out and be the center of attention. The space must accommodate space for bike equipment, camp equipment, aquatics, climbing equipment, ski, footwear, fitness equipment, apparel, outdoorwear, restrooms, offices, warehouse space, a garage, checkout area, a common area and test zones to try out equipment.
